Parx Casino and betPARX’s parent company Greenwood Racing Inc have joined the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) 'Have a Game Plan’ responsible gaming campaign.

The responsible gambling campaign 'Have a Game Plan’ aims to educate players on four core aspects of RG when betting on sports:

  1. The importance of setting a budget and sticking to it.
  2. Keeping things light and fun; promoting sports betting as a form of entertainment first and foremost.
  3. Knowing the odds before placing a wager.
  4. Making sure players choose to play on a legal and regulated site.

The expansion of legal sports betting options — to 130 million Americans today — reinforces the importance of bringing together as many voices as possible to educate consumers on responsible wagering. Thanks to the new partnership with Greenwood Racing and AGA, Parx Casino will promote responsible gaming measures to all its sportsbook customers as well as via its online sports betting product betPARX.

“Responsible gaming is an integral part of Greenwood Racing’s sports betting strategy,” said Parx Chief Marketing Officer Marc Oppenheimer. “We’re excited to extend our long-standing commitment to responsible gaming consumer education through this partnership with the AGA.”

“The AGA is thrilled to welcome Parx Casino and betPARX as 'Have A Game Plan’ campaign partners,” AGA Senior Vice President Casey Clark said via press release. “The expansion of legal sports betting options — to 130 million Americans today — reinforces the importance of bringing together as many voices as possible to educate consumers on responsible wagering.”

Greenwood Racing and its brands are not the only well-known sports betting brands to partner up with AGA.

At the beginning of the year, Penn National Gaming joined the RG public awareness campaign. Thanks to the partnership, Penn National Gaming brands such as Barstool Sportsbook are using their online platforms and social media accounts to educate players on why they should 'Have a Game Plan’.

The 'Have a Game Plan’ responsible gambling campaign is also now promoted at Penn National’s brick-and-mortar sportsbook locations across the United States. Other big brands such as BetMGM Sports, DraftKings, and Entain are also part of the AGA “Have a Game Plan’ campaign.

With AGA projecting that, during March Madness, at least $45 million in bets would be placed, it is no wonder that pressure is on to educate players on how they can manage their time and money spent placing sports wagers.

The four main responsible gaming tools offered by sportsbooks in the US are:

  1. Deposit Limits
  2. Play Time Limits
  3. Time-Outs
  4. The Option to Self-Exclude

Deposit Limits allow players to set a maximum dollar amount that can be deposited into their account and used to wager — either by day, week, or month.

Play Time Limits allow players to set a specific amount of time that they can be on the site placing online wagers.

Time-Out tools create an enforced period of time where players cannot place any more wagers on the sportsbook.

Self-Exclusion is a broad-brush term for players who voluntarily ban themselves from being able to log in to an online sportsbook (or visit a retail sportsbook) which can be done via the operator or at the state level.

All these tools can be used individually or together in a combined way of maintaining control while gambling at online sportsbooks. The 'Have a Game Plan’ public service campaign builds on this, reminding players they can set time or money limits.
