BetBlocker, a UK based charity that provides the only freely available blocking software for online gambling on the market, is adding some new functionality that should expand its application and usefulness. In partnership with L&L Europe, the app is now fully available in Dutch, in addition to the existing English app.

Announced in May, the new service from L&L provides BetBlocker’s responsible gaming app with full Dutch language support. That not only extends to the app itself, but includes Dutch technical support to help confused users with problems in their native language.

The new language functionality begins to add a significant new layer to the usefulness of the BetBlocker app for native speakers of languages other than English. While the service has always been available anywhere in the world, the English base of the app makes it less accessible in countries where English is not the first language.

Put a Stop to Problem Gambling

BetBlocker has always been an international app, freely available to anyone for help with problem gambling. The free app offers parental controls and self-restriction functions on nearly every device or system a player might gamble on.

The list of available systems is impressive, and includes both mobile and desktop systems.

  • Windows
  • Linux
  • Mac
  • Android
  • iOS
  • Fire OS
  • AppGallery (Huawei)

The new language support from partner L&L Europe, winner of the Best Casino Group 2019 and 2020, is part of a larger long-term strategy to expand the linguistic reach of the already-global app.

“Expanding BetBlocker to other language markets has always been a clear objective for the service,” said Duncan Garvie, founder and Trustee of BetBlocker. “The most significant barrier to taking this step is providing native language support, due to the staffing costs involved.” That is where L&L Europe came in, adding the layer of Dutch language support to make the app more accessible.

Garvie went on to suggest this would not be the end of extended language support. “We hope that this will be the first of many such partnerships with the industry that will allow us to offer our service in a variety of languages.”

For its part, L&L Europe sees the partnership as a way to solidify its commitment to responsible gaming. “An online casino operator has a duty of care, and this project completion shows we have. This truly shows we’re not only compliant within the field of responsible gambling, but we also take the extra step,” said Jan Wienk, Marketing Manager and Head of Product Development for the award winning casino group.

It looks as though this is only the first step in expanding the BetBlocker service to a truly global audience. The new Dutch language support is just the beginning as BetBlocker seeks to provide service in as many languages as possible through similar partnerships around the world.

If you, or someone you know, has a problem with gambling, or if you are a parent looking to ensure your kids don’t access problematic content, BetBlocker might be the solution. Find the right BetBlocker for you at the download page.
